Reading
1. Read “Paint the Wind” up to p. 147 (chapter 13). You should highlight the words that are unfamiliar to you, and look them up in the dictionary if they block your comprehension.
2. Compose twenty comprehension questions and corresponding answers. You should make one or two questions out of each chapter. Mark the pages and chapters for your questions.
3. Prepare for 15 word definitions in your workbook.
4. Make 10 flashcards following the directions specified in the workbook.
5. As you read, take notes of the plot and anything impressive or questionable so that you can present the story line when asked.
Essay
1. Revise your notes on “The Bronze Bow” reflecting what you learned in class.
2. Bring an outline of your essay on “Lyddie.”
For both outlines, make sure you come up with ideas, not the plot or main ideas of the novels. If you just explain the plot, it is not an essay, but a summary. So you have to think of two or three words that can describe and include the characteristics of the characters or society in the book. You can even make connections with your own experience or current society.
