1. Read “The Pearl” from p. 1 to page 57.
For Your Workbook
As you read,
1. Compose five comprehension questions and corresponding answers using Unit 2 reading questions section.
2. Make six flash cards using unit 2 flash card section and cut them up.
Each student’s CQs and flash cards should come from the following pages:
Jennifer: p. 1~12 Scott: p. 13~23 top
Colin: p. 23~34 top Elena: p. 34~ 44 top
Bryan: p. 44~57 SeungDoo: p. 1~57
3. a. Select ten difficult words and look them up in the dictionary.
b. Write down the definition on unit 2 vocabulary help section. Then copy the sentences with the words in the book. Again, specify the pages, where you get the sentences.
c. Finally, make up your own sentences using the words. You are allowed to copy others’ sentences in the dictionary, but you should state the sources if you are taking the sentences from them.
4. Research a topic of your own and prepare a power point document with the information.
Summarize the information you searched.
Present both positive and negative sides of the issue.
Give your own opinions on the issue.
Possible topics are
--problems and strengths of education in Korea
--euthanasia, pros and cons
--growing rate of suicide in Korea and the reasons
--high unemployment rate in Korea and the reasons
--studying abroad, benefits and drawbacks
You cannot participate in class if you have not completed your homework.
